SALVADOR RANGEL, JR. EDINBURG — Salvador Rangel, Jr., 54, died Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. Born in McAllen, Mr. Rangel had lived in Edinburg most of his life. A father to everyone he met, always caring and going the extra mile. Many people thought of him as their second father, their teacher, their friend. He was the person to call when you had a question or even when you needed directions. He never sat quietly; he was always talking to someone either an old friend or a new one. People from everywhere knew him. You couldn't go anywhere without someone saying, “Rangel, Angel, Mr. Sweet, yeah I know him”. He was like the president, always shaking hands and kissing babies. He loved everyone, especially children. He was beyond excited and happy that he was going to become a grandfather. Because he gave so much love, he is loved by so many and will never be forgotten. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maricela and Salvador Rangel, Sr. Mr. Rangel is survived by his wife, Maria G. Rangel of Edinburg; two sons, Salvador (Clarissa Borrego) Rangel, Sam (Barbara Prado) Rangel, both of Edinburg; a daughter, Abby Melchor of Edinburg; and three siblings, Esther Garza, Ermelinda Huerta and Hermelinda Vasquez. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with his bible school graduation ceremony from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service Friday, December 5, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
