Mammie Ruth Reed

MISSION – Mammie Ruth Reed, 94, went home to our Lord Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Briarcliff Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Paducah, TX, Mrs. Reed had lived in Mission since 1976. She was an original "Rosie the Riveter."
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Melvin Reed; her parents, Jack and Maggie May; a sister, Marie Fry; and brother-in-law, Bob Crawford.
Mrs. Reed is survived by four children, Ronnie (Denise) Bottoms of Dallas, Donna (Jim) Johnson of Alabama, R.W. Bottoms of Paris, TX, Rhonda (Ruben) Ramos of Mission; eight grandchildren, Heather Guzman, Kristian (Aaron) Gardner, Tim Bottoms, Jamie Bottoms, Jeremy Bottoms, Eric Bottoms, Jason Robert Harrison, Justin Michael Harrison; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Crawford of Amarillo, TX; and a brother, Carol (Lynnett) May of Salt Lake City, UT.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
Pallbearers will be Ruben Ramos Jr., Ronnie Bottoms, R.W. Bottoms, Taylor Guzman, Aaron Gardner, and Jim Johnson. Honorary pallbearers Ryan Gardner, Luke Gardner, and Steve Gardner.
A special thank you to all the nurses and staff at Briarcliff Nursing Home.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
