SAN JUAN - Maria Luisa Regalado, 86, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021, at McAllen Medical Center.
Throughout her life, she worked as a teacher and later on as a migrant worker. Maria was known for her selflessness and her willingness to care for others. Her hobbies included spending time with her family and caring for her garden. She was most proud of her ever-growing family and will be dearly missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan M. Regalado; two sons, Juan Rafael Regalado and Mario Regalado; two daughters, Maria Regalado-Tovar and Irene Regalado-Cortez; her parents, Victorio Soto and Natalia Diaz; three sisters, Natalia Oviedo, Willemina Soto, Guadalupe Soto; and two brothers, Samuel Soto and Antonio Soto.
Mrs. Regalado is survived by her five children, Victorio (Leticia Muro) Soto, Raymundo (Debi) Regalado, Rosa Maria (Gerardo) Hernandez, Bernarda (Brijido) Guajardo, Maria Luz (Javier) Lerma; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Pedro Tovar and Armando Cortez; a daughter-in-law, Guillerma Regalado; and a sister, Maria Rosalva Lopez.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery.
