RENE RAMON GARZA

ALAMO – Rene Ramon Garza , 84, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Doctors Hospital At Renaissance in Edinburg. Our Dad Rene worked with his father since the age of 12 years old during his summer working in the fields of grain, in El Campo, Texas. In his early years he developed skills in welding and farming. He earned a management position with the Reynolds Co. at the age of 22 and was in charge of over 400 employees. He often traveled to Torreon, Mexico to train interns on the fundamentals and advanced techniques of welding. After many years at Reynolds Co., he moved on to pursue his love of farming. Our dad continued to work in farming until his last day. He developed many contacts within the farming community both locally and nationally. Our dad was an avid reader of newspapers, loved politics, the sport of boxing, and the Houston Texans. He was looking forward to casting his vote in November. Our dad was generous soul and would try to help anyone in need. His daughters and grandchildren were the light of his life and he will be so greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe Benitez Garza; parents, Alberto and Manuelita R. Garza; three siblings, Elisa Garcia, Isarel Garza, and Alberto Garza, Jr. Mr. Garza is survived by four children, Marisela G. (Noe) Peralez, Marivel G. (Marcos) Martinez, Vilma Irene (Farrel) Garza Wood, Vanessa Renee G. (Bernabe III) Soto; nine grandchildren, Marcos Martinez, Jr., Deandra Martinez, Daniela Irene Martinez, Guliana Noelle Peralez, Izabella Alana Peralez, Noah Rene Peralez, Gabrielle Wood, Eli Guadalupe Wood, and Francesca Bernae Soto; three great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Minerva Tanguma and Adalberto Garza.Visitation will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2024, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
