Herminia "Minnie" Requenez

HERMINIA "MINNIE"REQUENEZ Psalms 121:7 The Lord will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life. DELMITA - Herminia "Minnie" Requenez, 86, died Sunday, February 23, 2014, at her residence in McAllen. Minnie was born in La Reforma, TX and had lived in Delmita most of her life. Mrs. Requenez loved to quilt her specialties for her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. Of all her hobbies, what she enjoyed the most was the weekly Bible studies with the ladies at church. She would drop everything she was doing to be the first one there; sometimes she was the only one there with Flora, their teacher. She is preceded in death by her husband, Haroldo Requenez, Sr.; a son, Haroldo Requenez, Jr.; a daughter, Hilda Dalia Requenez; a grandson, Ricardo G. Requenez; her parents, Santiago and Rosenda Lopez; a brother, Santos (Belia) Lopez. Herminia is survived by two sons, Ricardo (Sylvia) Requenez and Mario (Cynthia) Requenez, both of Edinburg; three daughters, Edna (Robert) Villarreal of McAllen, Irene (Ramiro) Lopez of Edinburg, Nelda Requenez of McAllen; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Encarnacion (Gracila) Lopez of Mission; a daughter-in-law, Piedad Requenez of Edinburg; and a son-in-law, Mario Saenz of Edinburg. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, February 25, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Juanie, Cristina, Angelina, and Gabby. Also thanks to Odyssey Hospice for the care of their mom and the support they gave to all the family members. Most importantly, they would like to thank their cousin, Mary Lopez for the encouragement and medical assistance during their mom's last days. Memorial contributions can be made in Herminia's name to San Isidro First Baptist Church building fund. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mario Requenez, Jr., Randy Requenez, Marcos Lopez, Haroldo Reuenez, III, Mario Saenz, Romeo Flores. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, David Lopez, Santiago (Jimmy Lopez), Daniel Lopez. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
