RENE REQUENEZ
EDINBURG – Rene Requenez, 37, was called upon by the Lord, Monday,
December 7, 2009, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Rene was born December 3, 1972 to Hermilo and Raquel Requenez. He attended and graduated from the Edinburg School District and upon graduating he continued his studies at UTPA where he graduated and majored in
Rehabilitation Service. He became the Valley’s poster child for Muscular Dystrophy from 1984 to 1989. He accomplished many feats in computer technology area such as evaluating software for Microsoft, AT& T and other
companies in where his input brought many good changes for people with disabilities to improve their lives. Along with his accomplishment he developed web sites and won 3rd place on a movie production that he developed. For the past 2 years he became involved in the Consumer Directed work group to help people with disabilities improve their lives.
In 2009 he was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to become a member on the Texas Council on Developmental Disabilities Committee. He was expected to be named advisor of the consumer directed work group during the month of December, 2009, but felt short on time. Rene is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Alfredo Requenez, and Aguedo Garcia.
Rene is survived by his parents, Hermilo and Raquel Requenez; a brother, Hector Requenez; paternal grandmother, Anita Requenez; maternal grandmother, Dubelsa Garcia all of Edinburg; and numerous uncles and aunts.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, December 9, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg.~ Funeral service will be at 10 am Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in
Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
