Oralia "Lala" Reyes Cantu

ORALIA “LALA” REYES CANTU
EDINBURG – Oralia “Lala” Reyes Cantu, our beloved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and aunt was called to rejoice with her husband, parents and siblings on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at the age of 82.
She was born to Serafin Reyes and Costancia Cavazos in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, MX. Mrs. Cantu married Mr. Federico and was blessed with six sons and a daughter. They moved to Weslaco and then to Edinburg where they stablished their home. She was a woman of deep and strong faith and had her bible close to her and was able to recite any scripture from memory. Mrs. Cantu was a very creative, visual and artistic individual.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Federico Cantu, Sr.; and infant son, Ruben Cantu; her parents, Mr. Serafin Reyes and Constancia Reyes; and eight siblings.
Mrs. Cantu is survived by five sons, Francisco Cantu of Edinburg, Federico (Sylvia) Cantu, Jr. of San Antonio, Fernando (Maria) Cantu of McAllen, Abel (Beatriz) Cantu of Minnesota, Raul (Alina) Cantu of Edinburg; a daughter, Angelica (Reynaldo) Riojas of Edinburg; 25 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Pedro Reyes of Weslaco, Roberto Reyes, of CA and Guadalupe Reyes McAllen; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces in Texas and California.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, June 3, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. On behalf of the Cantu Riojas Family, we thank Mom’s doctors at Senior Care of Edinburg, all their staff, who cared for our mother. A special thanks to CNA Melissa, nurses, Juanita and Carlos for their immediate response and actions. To Doctors Hospital at Renaissance staff; Dr. Pantoja for her thoroughness and Dr. Juan Pablo Gomez, and the ER and MICU staff. We also would like to thank all of our family, friends, near and far who was sent us prayers, calls, comments through social media with words of comfort and their presence during our time of sorrow. We will remain forever grateful and may God bless you.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
