Raul T. Reyes

Raul Reyes, 71, died May 19, 2017 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Melquiades and Amelia Reyes; two sisters, Soila Hamilton and Alicia Nava.
Raul is survived by his children, Rodrigo (Josie) Reyes, Raul Reyes, Jr., Adela Reyes and Raquel (Frank) Cavazos all of Edinburg; eight grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; former spouse, Maria Elena Garcia of Edinburg; six siblings, Toy Lopez of Edinburg, Sylvia (John) Martinez of Michigan, Esperanza (Rudy) Martinez of Houston, Jose (Helen) Reyes of Michigan, Sophia (Rufus) Esparza of Houston and Pam (Ray) Mendez of Alton.
He was a former industrial mechanic at Santa Rosa Sugar Mill, a dedicated boy scout leader, musician and also a general handyman. He loved to repair small engines. He was well known for his humor and his optimistic outlook on life.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
