Arturo "Art"  Reyna

November 25, 1959 — December 28, 2015

ARTURO “ART” REYNA
PHARR – Arturo “Art” Reyna, 56, died Monday, December 28, 2015, at McAllen Medical Center.
Arturo “Art” Reyna was known for his kindness, his creativity, and his generosity. His many talents included music (never missed a Pigskin Jubilee), writing (poetry, pros, and humorous cards to family and friends), and collecting friends from all walks of life. He was everyone’s favorite uncle, not only playing Santa Claus to a couple of generations of children, but also being as generous as Santa Claus to family and friends alike. His loving devotion and care to his mother Carmen Colegio Reyna who passed away in September was incomparable. He served God by serving his family, his community, and those in need. Art held a Master’s Degree in Library Science from the TWU in Denton and was employed as Reference Librarian at the Pharr Memorial Library for several years. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vicente Sr. and Carmen Reyna; two infant brothers, Vicente Guadalupe Reyna Jr. and Vicente Guadalupe Reyna Jr.; and two sisters, Ida Reyna and Hilda Reyna.
Art is survived by four siblings, Josefina (†Camilo) Castillo, of San Juan, Efrain (Juanita) Reyna, Vicente G. (Maria G.) Reyna, both of Pharr, Lydia (Mauricio Jr.) Pesina, of Edinburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral Mass will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
