CARMEN COLEGIO REYNA PHARR – Carmen Colegio Reyna, 91, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at her residence in Pharr. Born in Mercedes, she had lived in Pharr for 65 years and was formerly of McAllen. She was also a member of Iglesia Metodista Los Wesleyanos in San Juan. Carmen was a lifelong housewife and mother. She was a firm believer in the bible passage that says “a wife should be subservient, not weak but rather meek”. She allowed her husband to be the head of the house and always put his and her children’s needs before hers. Carmen loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved to travel, tend to her plants and always served the Lord in words and actions to the very end. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vicente Guadalupe Reyna, Sr.; and four children, Vicente Guadalupe Reyna, Jr., Vicente Guadalupe Reyna, Jr.,Ida Reyna and Hilda Reyna. Mrs. Reyna is survived by five children, Josefina Reyna (+Camilo) Castillo of San Juan, Efrain (Janie) Reyna, Vicente Guadalupe (Lupita) Reyna, Art Reyna, all of Pharr, Lydia (Mauricio) Pesina of Edinburg; seven grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; six siblings, Laura Colegio, Eduardo Colegio, Leonardo Colegio, all of McAllen, Pasqual Colegio of Lincoln Park, MI, Margarito Colegio of Hartford, MI, and Maria Estela Colegio Reyna of Brownsville. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2015, at Iglesia Metodista Los Wesleyanos in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
