HECTOR M. REYNA
McALLEN – Hector M. Reyna, 88, died Saturday, August 20, 2016, at his residence in McAllen. He began his career in the floor covering business in 1947 and opened his own business, McAllen Carpet & Flooring in 1980. He later pursued a career as a stained glass artist at McAllen Stained Glass, where he created beautiful panels for various churches and homes throughout the valley.
Born in Mexico City, in 1927, Mr. Reyna moved to McAllen when he was 17 years old. He later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is preceded in death by a son, Hector I. Reyna.
Hector is survived by his wife of 63 years, Herlinda G. Reyna; a son, G.J. Reyna, both of McAllen; three daughters, Yolanda (Alonzo) Cantu, Ana B. Reyna (Victor Sanchez), both of McAllen, Norma Reyna of Houston; six grandchildren, Elisabeth Thomison of Taylor, Jennifer Reyna of Hutto, Allysa Cantu, Alexis Cantu, Gabriel Sanchez, all of McAllen, G.J. Reyna III of Mission; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Waylon Thomison.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. A graveside service will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
