Ricardo “Richard” Peralez

EDINBURG – Ricardo “Richard” Peralez, 69, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He was surrounded by his family and passed away peacefully. Richard shared a beautiful life and marriage of 47 years with the love of his life, Rosie Peralez. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all. Richard loved being a grandpa to all his grandchildren; he most enjoyed having grandpa duties at the end of the day by picking them up from school and supporting them in their extracurricular activities, and just all in all spending time with them. Richard led his life by serving others and showed selfless acts of kindness to family and friends without asking for anything in return. He is known for his greater than life personality, kindness, gentle smile, sense of humor, and charisma. One of his greatest passions in life was music and he was best known in the Tejano music community as a lead vocalist and drummer; he was also a member of the Rio Grande Valley Chapter – Tejano Legend Pioneers Organization. He continued to share his love of music as a choir member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. His love of music also extended into having a DJ business and entertained for all occasions. Richard was an avid and long-time fan of WWE, Monday Night Raw, and Friday Night Smackdown; he often watched these shows with his granddaughter and made her a fan of wrestling as well. At home, Richard was also known as a CNN correspondent for his frequent viewing of CNN and reporting to his family on all political issues occurring in the nation and world. One of Richard’s favorite past-times was cooking Bar-B-Que with family and friends and cheering on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys on a Football Sunday. Richard was a proud graduate of Edinburg High School Class of 1973 and has many friends within this community that regularly met for breakfast and celebrated life together. After 25 years of service, he retired from Edinburg CISD where he worked as a Driver’s Education Instructor and with the Transportation Department. Leading with a servant’s heart, Richard also served the City of Edinburg for many years as a Board Member for the Edinburg Housing Assistance Committee.

Richard loved life and he was loved by many; the world lost one of the good ones and he will

never be forgotten in the hearts that he touched and his legacy with continue on.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Encarnacion Peralez, Sr. and Angelita Peralez, and siblings, Irma Peralez and Santiago Peralez.

Mr. Peralez is survived by his wife, Rosita R. Peralez; two daughters, Rose Michelle (Gerardo) Zuniga, and Priscilla Renee (Eraclio III) Castillo; six grandchildren, Ryan Diego Zuniga, Camilla Elise Zuniga, Penelope Rose Castillo, Elainna Alma Castillo, Katelyn Marie Elizondo, and Eduardo Elizondo, Jr; and four siblings, Jose Encarnacion (Norma) Peralez, Jr., Maria Noelia (Guadalupe) Barrera, Maria A.
