BYRON "BK" RICHARDSON EDINBURG - Byron “BK” Richardson, born in Austin, Texas on September 10, 1993 was called to the Lord on January 9, 2014. He is survived by his mother, Regina Richardson, Esq. and her partner, Justin Rowland, of Edinburg; his grandmother, Judge Linda Reyna Yanez of McAllen; his Tia Amparo and Tio Cesar Guerra, of Houston; his cousin, Xochitl Guerra; and a family of great aunts and uncles, Robert and Yolanda Hinojosa, of Edinburg, Leticia Leal, of McAllen, Carmen and Blanca Ritacca, of Chicago, David and May Reyna, of Edinburg; cousins, Angelica Leal, Vanessa Tornabenne, Sonny Ritacca, Michael and Joanna Hinojosa, Crystal and David Reyna, and Yvette Obregon; and his father, Byron Richardson, of Waco. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Bianca Hinojosa. BK was a student at BETA (now South Texas Preparatory Academy), where he performed in Theatre productions. He graduated from the Science Academy in Mercedes in 2012. While in high school, he was an Ambassador with People to People and traveled to Italy, France and Spain. He was a scholar with the Duke University TIP program and attended film school at Chapman University in California and UCLA. He went on to be an honor student at the University of Texas at Austin completing the fall semester with a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. So accomplished in such a short life and yet he was more than a scholar; he was the epitome of a gentleman, a truly gentle soul. The world has lost a spirit of kindness, generosity and altruism. His vision was great and his insight penetrating. Those of us who had the privilege of knowing him, are better for it and our hearts are shattered to have lost him before he was able to show the rest of the world what he showed us. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg.
