Gregorio Rios

GREGORIO RIOS EDINBURG - Gregorio Rios, 89, died Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Comfort House in McAllen. Born in Tilden, TX, Mr. Rios had lived in Edinburg most of his life and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Gregorio was employed by UTPA for 13 years where he later retired from. He was a hard worker who never stopped. Mr. Rios valued his family and cared dearly for all of them. He was a huge baseball fan whose favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves and the Texas Rangers. Gregorio always had words of wisdom for everyone. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rita M. Rios; two brothers, Antero Rios and Evaristo Rios; a sister, Antonia R. Cavazos; and son-in-law, Gabino Salinas. Gregorio is survived by his daughter, Angelica Salinas of Edinburg; two sons, Antero (Cecilia) Rios of San Benito and Rene (Frances) Rios of Edinburg; former daughter-in-law, Aurora Garza Rios of Edinburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Pedro Rios and Apolonio Rios, both of Oakley, CA; one sister, Frances De La Garza of Edinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, September 28, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. The family would like to give special thanks to Legacy Hospice and Comfort House of McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
