ALEJANDRO S. RIVERA ALAMO — Alejandro S. Rivera, 69, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at his residence in Alamo.Mr. Rivera was born in Hidalgo and had lived in Alamo all of his life. Alejandro was an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church where he honored and worshiped the Heavenly Father. He was owner of Rivera’s Trucking and worked at Valley Fruit as a fieldman for 40 years before retiring from Coastal Fruit. He made many lifelong friends who he will always cherish. Mr. Rivera was a loving husband, father, brother and took pride in his family. He will truly be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Concepcion Rivera Sr.; two brothers, Erineo and Silvestre Rivera; and two sisters, Flavia Quesada and Celedonia Escobedo. Alejandro is survived by the love of his life of 48 years, Elisa Garcia Rivera; four children, Alejandro (Maria) Rivera Jr., Monica (Andres) Garza, Miguel (Catalina) Gutierrez and Saul (Amanda) Lopez; nine grandchildren; five sisters, Monica R. Acosta, Ausencia Villarreal, Santos Salinas, Constancia Guerrero and Amelia “Molly” Gallegos; one brother, Alberto (Maria) Rivera Jr., all of Alamo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, February 3, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
