CRISTINA M. RODRIGUEZ
ALAMO – Cristina M. Rodriguez, 85, died Monday, January 15, 2018, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg.
Born in Lyford, she lived in Alamo most of her life. Cristina was a strong, hard-working woman who showed her children tough love and always put their needs ahead of her own. She was very creative, loved arts and crafts and taught herself to sew, knit and enjoyed making dolls. She had a passion for plants, which she would grow and sell at the flea market. Cristina will be remembered as a resilient lady who cared dearly for her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose G. Rodriguez.
Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by three sons, Jose Luis (Aileen) Rodriguez of Pharr, Ricardo Rodriguez of Edinburg, Juan Martin (Viola) Rodriguez of San Juan; four daughters, Amalia (Frank) Herrera of Delmita, Silvia (Alonso) Garza, Jesusita Ayala, both of Alamo, Belia (Rick Martinez) Rodriguez of Edinburg; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Enrique Meza, Roberto Meza, Audelia Polomo, Juanita Gureno, all of Alamo, Aurelia Guajardo of Lyford.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
