Felix graduated from Edinburg High School in 1959. After graduation, he worked in the family business, City Cab Company as a driver and dispatcher. In 1964, he was drafted by the Army, where he proudly served in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge in 1966, he worked with the Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights, IL. for eleven years. He then returned home and continued working as owner and manager of three taxi cab companies. He continued working as a dispatcher with the McAllen Fire Department, Mo-VAC, and T.K. Stanley.
In addition to his work, Felix enjoyed listening to his oldies music and dancing the night away. He was always the life of the party at family gatherings. Most will remember him by his quick wit, great smile, and sense of humor. He loved his Yankees and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Lily. During the day, Felix would make his way to Guerra’s Tortillas and spend time with his buddies while enjoying delicious meals. Most afternoons, he could be seen at Gorena Elementary picking up his granddaughter along with his step-great grandchildren and taking them all to Dairy Queen for ice cream. He loved life and often said he couldn’t complain “Cause he had a blast of a time in this world.” Felix’s character will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on in his family.
The family of Felix Rodriguez would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone supporting us through this difficult time. He was a special person who touched many hearts and will be missed by all who knew him.
