EDINBURG – Israel “Rod” Rodriguez, 85, went peacefully in his sleep Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Windsor Arbor View in Edinburg surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Rodriguez was born in Edinburg and lived there most of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a retired IRS Agent, and owner of Rod’s Tax Service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Josefina Rodriguez; and a brother, Arturo Rodriguez.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Irene Rodriguez of Edinburg; three children, Reynaldo (Wanda) Rodriguez of Mission, Kenneth Rodriguez, Belinda (Marc) Menchaca, both of Edinburg; four grandchildren, Thomas Rodriguez, Katharyn Rodriguez, Jonathan Menchaca, Sophia Menchaca; and five siblings.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Moday, August 20, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
