JOSE D. “PAPA JOE” RODRIGUEZ
PHARR- Jose “Papa Joe” Rodriguez, 84, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016, at his residence in Pharr.
Jose dedicated his life to his family and serving others. The day he married his beloved wife, Irma, on October 3, 1964, he became a member of La Trinidad United Methodist Church in Pharr. Papa Joe was loved by all children in Mama Puri Daycare. His hobby was gardening, spending Saturdays with his family, and attending church on Sundays. His jokes will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Papa Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Lucia Rodriguez; a one son-in-law, Jeff Gold; one brother, Felix Rodriguez; three sisters, Teresa Rodriguez, Juanita Rodriguez and Guadalupe Rodriguez.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his wife of 51 years, Irma M. Rodriguez of Pharr; one daughter, Ana M. Rodriguez of Pharr; two grandchildren, Victoria Brewster Martinez, David Brewster, both of Pharr; one sister, Marissa Rodriguez of Mexico City; two Goddaughters, Jennifer Brewster of Pharr, Tiffany Lucas of Indiana.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016, at La Trinidad United Methodist Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
