Jose O. Rodriguez

EDINBURG - Jose O. Rodriguez, 97, went home to our Lord Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Amara Hospice Inpatient Facility in Edinburg.
Born in Agua Nueva, TX, Mr. Rodriguez had lived in Edinburg most of his life. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Elida, who passed away in 2000. Jose had a ritual of placing fresh flowers and praying next to his wife’s photo daily. The wait has ended; Jose and Elida have reunited in heaven for eternity.
Jose was a WWII Veteran who fought in Germany for his country and spoke of it with pride and honor. Stability was a word that defined a great man, for he was employed by Dresser Magcobar for 32 years. Jose enjoyed the outdoors, he fished and hunted until the age of 95. His charisma and compassion towards everyone who approached him will be missed forever.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elida G. Rodriguez.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by three sons, Jose Octavio (Beatrice C.) Rodriguez of Lubbock, Efrain (Margaret) Rodriguez, Raul (Gerbie) Rodriguez, both of Edinburg; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Ramona Guevara; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, September 4, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
