EDINBURG - Leandro Rodriguez Sr., 91, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Calvin, Texas, Mr. Rodriguez had lived in Edinburg most of his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Timoteo Rodriguez and Luz Guerrero Rodriguez; a daughter, Diana Rodriguez; and a brother, Jose Rodriguez.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his wife, Eva C. Rodriguez of Edinburg; four children, Blanca E. (Joe) Padilla of Fresno, California, Leandro (Olivia) Rodriguez, Jr., Ricardo Rodriguez and Sylvia A. (Abel) Villanueva, all of Edinburg; ten grandchildren, Marissa, Linda, Jessica, Jennifer, Mary, Abel II, Leandro James III, Anjelica, Laura and Eric; seven great-grandchildren, Adrialys, Alejandro III, Carolina, Mia, James Deandre, Sophia and Jon-Lucas; three brothers, Catarino Rodriguez, Agapito Rodriguez, Macario Rodriguez; and a sister, Matilde Salas, all of Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, July 28, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Military honors will be conducted by Sgt. Benito Alaniz and VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
