MARIA LUISA RODRIGUEZ PHARR — Maria Luisa Rodriguez, 78, died Monday, April 6, 2015, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose Alejandro Chavez and Nancy Urena. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church most of her life and loved to cook tortillas de harina. Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by her husband, Candido Rodriguez Sr.; 10 children, Jose Alejandro (Celia) Chavez, Candido Rodriguez Jr., Martin (Isabel) Rodriguez, Jesus (Diana) Rodriguez, Estella C. Hinojosa, San Juana (Ruben, Sr.) Portales, Maria Francisca (Romeo Sr.) Rosales, Mercedes (Daniel Sr.) Torres, Maria Guadalupe (Oscar Sr.) Villarreal, Claudia (Javier) Abitua; 30 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rita Cardoza, Yolanda Urena; 2 brothers, Jesus Urena, Jr., and Jose Uriel Urena. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
