MEXICO/MISSION- Ruben Rodriguez, 82, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, he lived in Illinois for 20 years, and moved to Mission in 1973, where he lived the remaining of his life. Ruben owned The Ahumada Ranch and Elsa Iron Works; he took pride in farming and ranching. Mr. Rodriguez enjoyed BBQ’s with his family and hunting. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Rodriguez is preceded in death by his parents, Zeferino and Maria Inez Rodriguez; and a sister, Maria de Socorro Rodriguez de Garcia.
Ruben is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ana Rodriguez of Mission; two sons, David (Matilde) Rodriguez, Ruben Rodriguez, both of Mission; five daughters, Mary (Noe) Molina of Houston, Rose (Todd) Lighter, Ana (Robert) Sanchez, both of Katy, TX, Nina (David) Pena of Grand Prairie, TX, Lidia (David Martinez) Morales of Weslaco; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Nemosia Medina, Gilberto Rodriguez, both of McAllen.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
