RUBEN "FUZZY" RODRIGUEZ
EDINBURG- Ruben "Fuzzy" Rodriguez, 72, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Rio Grande City, TX, Ruben had lived in Mission most of his life. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Berlin Crisis.
Ruben was preceded in death by a son Joseph Rodriguez, his parents Martin and Juanita Rodriguez, and a sister Consuelo Gonzalez.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Rodriguez of Mission; his children, Ruben (Delia) Rodriguez, Jr., Rudy (Isabel) Rodriguez, both of Edinburg, and Maricela Rodriguez of Monte Alto; step-son Luis A. Pena of Pharr; 11 grandchildren; and one great - grandchild.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, January 8, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ruben Rodriguez Jr., Rudy Rodriguez, Esquiel Rodriguez, Sergio Fuentes, Louie Pena, and Jose Gustavo Escobar.
Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
