PHARR – Josefina Smith Rojas, 92, a long-time resident of Pharr, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 25, 2017 at her home following a brief illness.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Rojas Jr.; her parents, Hijinio and Antonia Smith; a son, Jose Maria Pena Jr.; sisters, Maria Reyes, Hortencia Hernandez, Delia Smith, Lillie Smith; and a brother, Hijinio Smith Jr.
Josefina is survived by her two daughters, Adriana Rojas Casanova of Edinburg and America Rojas (Abel) Salinas of Katy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Hector (Della) Smith of Texas City and Jose Erasmo Smith of Houston.
Mrs. Rojas and her husband were proprietors of Rojas & Smith Cleaners in San Juan. The special individual attention they provided their customers allowed them to enjoy a successful business for 45 years. They were well known and loved through-out the community.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 311 E. Exp. 83 in San Juan, (956)787-1415. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 122 W. Hawk Ave. in Pharr, (956)787-8563. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens, 4607 N. Sugar Rd. in Pharr, (956)787-5222.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
