ALAMO – Baldemar “Balde” Romero, 65, went home to our Lord Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at his residence in Alamo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Margarita and Gilberto Romero Sr.; and two siblings, Patsy and Guadalupe Romero.
Mr. Romero is survived by his loving wife, Linda Romero of Alamo; a son, Jesse (Jennifer) Romero of McAllen; a daughter, Jessica (C.J.) Romero-Alvarez of Alamo; seven grandchildren, Alejandro Romero, Victoria Romero, Julissa Romero, all of McAllen, Nyree Gonzalez of San Marcos, Destiny Gonzalez of McAllen, Kaelynn Sophia Alvarez of Alamo, and Kristian Ray Alvarez of Alamo; four siblings, Gilberto (Edelmira) Romero Jr. of Alamo, Romero J. Romero of Alamo, Rosalinda (Alberto) Munoz of San Juan, and Rolando Romero of Alamo.
He will be fondly remembered for his easy-going personality, charming wit and adoration for his family. His favorite evenings were spent on the patio with his wife, children and grandchildren, listening to music, barbecuing and enjoying the laughter.
He was a remarkable asset during his 46-year career as a pressman with The Monitor, beginning in 1974. His knowledge and expertise were invaluable, and he was well-loved by the hundreds of members of his work family throughout the years.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary today, May 28, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2021, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
