ALAMO / HOUSTON - On Monday, September 10, 2018, Rafaela Romero, loving wife and mother of 10 went to be with our lord at the age of 73.
Born on October 24, 1944 in Guadalara, Jalisco, she married Jose Refugio Romero on October 30, 1963. Together they raised ten children, six girls and four boys, and were happily married for 55 years.
Rafaela enjoyed gardening, crafting, and had love for her birds and her beloved dog "Rocky". She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and disliked a quiet home; she had a sense of humor and loved to joke around with her children. Rafaela will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Romero is preceded in death by her father, Jose Reyes; and her son, Jose Antonio Romero.
Rafaela is survived by her loving husband, Jose Refugio Romero; her mother, Francisca Reyes; her children, Lourdes (Jorge) Guajardo, Jose Arturo Romero, Gabriel Romero, Jose Angel (Lourdes) Romero, all of Houston, Laura Olivarez of San Juan, Veronica (Jesse) Trejo of Pharr, Cecilia (Alexander) San Miguel, Lisa (Sergio) Berumen, Leslie (Wade Simcox) Romero, Jonathan Guajardo, all of Houston; 31 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jose Reyes, Jr., Artemio Reyes, Roberto Reyes, and Raul Reyes; five sisters, Esperanza Reyes, Maria de Refugio Aguirre, San Juana Reyes, Rosalva Cranmore, and Yolanda Cano.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2018, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
