FLORENCIA ROSALES
PHARR – Florencia Rosales, 80, died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in La Grulla, she lived in Pharr most of her life.
Florence was a strong, giving, loving, gracious, beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher and friend. She was ahead of her time, coming from tragedy and poverty to earn her college degree and became a teacher while raising five sons. She taught at PSJA school district for 25 years. Florence was a dedicated Seventh Day Adventist Christian. Her faith kept us strong. Her work and love gave us everything and made us who we are. She meant so much to all of us! We are proud to have been part of her life. She will be missed until we meet again.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Ramona Longoria; 2 sons, Erasmo and Rolando Rosales; and a sister, Maria Helena Santos.
Florence is survived by her husband, Erasmo Rosales of Pharr; 3 children, Roel (Nancy) Rosales, of Houston, Texas, Leo (Margaret) Rosales, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, Rudy (Glenda) Rosales, of Ft. Worth, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Michelle, Faith, Sasha, Abigail, Zachary, Robin, Madeline, Samantha; and 2 great-grandchildren, Anna Lee and Kairi.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, today, June 30, 2011 with a 7 pm prayer service at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 9 am, Friday July 1, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
