Edinburg - Lucia M. Ruiz, 86, died Friday, June 24, 2016, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
She was born in Harlingen, Texas and lived in Edinburg most of her life. She was a very strong, loving, and protective mother and wife. Lucia was a very unselfish and caring person with family and friends. She adored her loving husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
Mrs. Ruiz is preceded in death by her husband, Roberto G. Ruiz; a son, Ernesto Ruiz; four grandchildren, Rodney Ryan Perez, Timothy Shaun Ruiz, Seth Ruiz, and Sarah Celeste Ruiz.
Lucia is survived by five children, Linda (Ramiro) Perez of Las Vegas, Nevada, Robert (+Dujuana Benoit) Ruiz, Jr., Richard (Laura) Ruiz, Eddie (Sylvia) Ruiz all of Edinburg, and Dalia (Roy) Herber of McAllen; 11 grandchildren, Romeo Ruiz Perez, Rhonda Roberta Perez, Robert Michael Ruiz, Christopher Todd Ruiz, H. Ryan Herber, K. Bradley Herber, Lori Anne Nisimblat, Erica Marie Espinoza, Jessica Nichole Armstrong, Sarith Ruiz Kossowsky, Gabriela Ruiz; 14 great-grandchildren, Rylie Loren Perez, Romeo Ruiz Perez, Jr., Presleigh Faith Ruiz, Avonlea Grace Ruiz, Creed Michael Ruiz, Slade Robert Ruiz, Isacc Bryce Ruiz, Orion Brianna Ruiz, Levi Andrew Nisimblat, Derek Allen Espinoza, Saleh Nicole Espinoza, Amelia Mae Kossowsky, Madeline Skye Herber, Aiden Donovan Herber, ; three siblings, Fidela Manzano Perez, Antonia M. Cavazos, and Carlos Manzano.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Monday, June 27, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Center Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
