AURORA RUTLEDGE EDINBURG - Aurora Rutledge, 89, died, Friday, January 3, 2014 at Edinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born at El Tule Ranch, west of Linn Texas, but had lived in Edinburg most of her life and was a member of Abundant Grace Community Church. Upon graduating from Edinburg High School in 1942, she was employed by the Hidalgo County Clerk's Office. She attended Pan American College in the evenings, and later became the Law Librarian at the Hidalgo County Courthouse until her retirement in 1989. Ms. Rutledge is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Julia G. Rutledge; three sisters, Irene, Isabel, and Julia Rutledge; four brothers, Manuel Jr., Elias, Guillermo and Nicolas "Nick" Rutledge. Aurora is survived by one brother, Albert Rutledge of Edinburg and a sister-in-law Amelia Rutledge; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Monday, January 6, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
