BELEN RUTLEDGE PHARR – Belen Rutledge, 101, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at her residence in Pharr. Born in McAllen, she had lived in Pharr most of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Rutledge; parents, Praxedis and Luciana Rios; a daughter, Carmen Schreves; four brothers, Pedro, Praxedis, Manuel and Francisco Rios; two sisters, Manuela Gonzalez, Concha “Chita” Gonzalez; three nephews, Marcelo Gonzalez, Jr., Manuel Gonzalez, and Pete Rios, Jr; two nieces, Minerva Garcia and Luciana Coronado. Mrs. Rutledge is survived by five nephews, Leopoldo, Jose, Octaviano Gonzalez, Peter D. Rios and Manuel Rios, Jr; two nieces, Cristina Gunter and Susan Clark; and numerous great nieces and nephews. A special thanks to, Gentiva Hospice staff; her providers, Maria Munoz, Minerva Campos, Marta Garcia, Gricelda Soria; her Eucaristic Minister, Miriam Keller; and her hairdresser of many years, Anna Garcia. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, June 12, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
