Lilia V. Rutledge

LILIA V. RUTLEDGE EDINBURG — Lilia V. Rutledge, 91, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Amara Hospice Inpatient Facility in Edinburg. Lilia was born at El Tule Ranch and was a longtime resident of Edinburg. She worked at the Hidalgo County Courthouse in the automobile department for many years. Lilia then took the position as the office manager at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg until her retirement. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Rutledge; a brother, E.A. “Beto” (Anita) Villarreal; and a sister, Delia V. (Carlos) Villegas. Lilia is survived by two daughters, Debbie Rutledge, Diana (Bob) Purdy; a son, Robert R. (Terri) Rutledge; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Gilbert (Isaura) Villarreal; three sisters, Emma V. Vela, Celia (+Armando) Caceres and Ofelia (Manuel Jr.) Ruiz. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, March 23, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. A memorial mass will take place on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edinburg, Texas at 10:00 a.m. The Rutledge-Villarreal family would like to thank the caregivers of Amara Hospice Facility for the love, compassion, patience and tender care they extended to Lilia and our entire family. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund, 114 West Fay, Edinburg, TX 78539. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
