NICOLAS "NICK" RUTLEDGE EDINBURG - Nicolas "Nick" Rutledge, 91, died Saturday, February 23, 2013, at McAllen Medical Center. Nick was born in Linn and lived in Edinburg most of his life. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard and was a mail carrier for the United States Postal service for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed woodworking. He never met a stranger and left a footprint on everyone's heart. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Ponce Rutledge; his parents, Manuel and Julia Rutledge; three brothers, Guillermo "Willie", Elias "Leo", and Manuel Jr.; and three sisters, Irene, Isabel, and Julia. Nick is survived by his wife, Amelia G. Rutledge, of Edinburg; two children, Evanna (Dale) Cramer, of McAllen, Jaime Carlos (Marcella) Rutledge, of Carrizo Springs; five grandchildren, Seth Joseph, Lucas Jerome, and Jess Matthew Rutledge, Estelle E. Cramer, Barbara C. (Chad) Stoerner; a brother, Albert Rutledge; and a sister, Aurora Rutledge, both of Edinburg. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, February 24, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. His grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
