EDINBURG - Clara Sanchez Vela, 76, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022, at her residence in La Blanca, Tx. Clara was a woman of God, who deeply believed in the power of prayer. She was a walking miracle full of love and kindness. Her faithfulness in God instilled a strong faith in many. Clara used prayer to care and love for those around her- most importantly her family, friends, and the many animals she rescued.
Widowed at 35, she raised her three boys, whom she is survived by; Charles Vela (Ana Vela), Edward J. Vela (Claudia Vela) and David Vela (Thelma Vela). Blessed with seven grandchildren, and countless of beautiful and joyful memories; Ceasar Vela (Yvette Vela), Arely Vela, Everly Vela, Emma Vela, Edward JR Vela, Aaron Rodriguez, and Dava Vela. Her love for her grandchildren was unconditional and beyond words can express.
Clara worked at Magic Valley Studios for many years, then worked at the Edinburg School District until her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker in San Carlos.
Clara's unexpected passing has left many with broken hearts, but they rejoice knowing she is welcomed by God and has reunited with her husband, Cesario "Chale" Vela; parents, Everardo and Geronima Sanchez; five siblings, Felix R. Sanchez, Francis Cruz, Juanita S. Lopez, Adela Murillo, and Amando R. Sanchez.
Clara is survived by her two siblings, Esteban Sanchez and Crecensia Maldonado.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon Monday, September 19, 2022, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in San Carlos. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
