EDINBURG- Guadalupe “Lupita” Saenz, passed away on Monday, October 15th, 2018, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 19th, 1914, in Rancho Viejo, Jim Hogg County. We are preserving the loving memory of a woman who managed to outlive all of her immediate family, is the fifth of seven siblings, and numerous cousins. Lupita is described as generous, selfless, kind, and loving, among many other virtues that have been described by those whose lives she has touched. After marrying her husband, Edmundo, she lived a fulfilling life as they raised ten children at La Aurora Ranch in Jim Hogg County. In the early sixties, the family migrated to California, where they worked as a family in the agricultural community of Santa Clara. After retirement, together they fostered many children in San Jose. After sixteen years, they returned to Texas in 1978 to enjoy retirement near family. After the death of Edmundo and her son Humberto, in 1984, Lupita moved to Edinburg where she enjoyed interests such as arts and crafts, jewelry making, painting cascarones, listening to music, but the one thing she enjoyed most was winning. Whether it be the maquinitas, loteria, or scratch-offs, Abuela loved to win. It is safe to say that she never had a boring day in her life. It is imperative to note that she touched numerous lives, living independently in her home until she was one hundred and three. She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Abuela.
Lupita is preceded in death by her husband, Edmundo G. Saenz, Sr.; two sons, Humberto and Leonel Saenz; her parents, Fermin Olivarez and Fidela Ramirez Olivarez.
She is survived by her eight children, Edmundo (Diana†), Dario (Maria), Hugo (Ester), Aurora (Samuel), Alicia (Gregory), Antonia (Refugio†), Adela, Angelica (Thomas); twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
