LYDIA R. SAENZ PHARR – Lydia R. Saenz, 87, answered God’s calling to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on July 24, 2013, at McAllen Heart Hospital. Mrs. Saenz was born in Los Herreras, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and had lived in Pharr most of her life. She was an active, faithful and life-long member of La Trinidad United Methodist Church in Pharr, where she served in several positions. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, where she also served in several positions in the local, sub-district and district levels. She is preceded in death by her husband, Humberto Saenz; and a son-in-law, Ruben Tijerina. Mrs. Saenz is survived by her daughters, Edna (Ruben+) Tijerina, of Pharr and Aydee (Ramon) Guerra, of San Juan; six grandchildren, Saul (Carliss) Almanza, of Louisiana, Betsaida (Eddie) Rodriguez, of McAllen, Isaac Almanza, of Louisiana, Roel Tijerina, of Pharr, Jaziel R. Guerra, of Kentucky, Nayeli S. Guerra, of San Juan; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maria Cruz Garza, of McAllen and Enedina Gonzalez, of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, July 26, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at La Trinidad United Methodist Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Saul Almanza, Isaac Almanza, Roel Tijerina, Jaziel Guerra, Eddie Rodriguez and Alfred Molina.
