Gerardo "Jerry" Salaiz

GERARDO “JERRY” SALAIZ EDINBURG – Gerardo “Jerry” Salaiz, 60, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at his residence in Edinburg. Born in Edinburg he had lived there all of his life. He was a family man who loved music and playing golf. Jerry was very passionate about education and was employed as an educator and administrator with Edinburg CISD, Valley View ISD, Progreso ISD and Ignite Public Schools in Rio Grande City. He is preceded in death by his father, Abelardo Salaiz. Mr. Salaiz is survived by his wife, Norma Linda Salaiz, of Edinburg; a son, Jarrod Salaiz; two daughters, Aubrey Salaiz, Brittney Salaiz, all of Austin; his mother, Adelaida Salaiz, of San Antonio; four brothers, Eduardo (Carol) Salaiz, of Dallas, Abelardo (Yolanda) Salaiz Jr., of Denver, Richard (Mari) Salaiz, of Edinburg, David (Cheryl) Salaiz, of McAllen; and two sisters, Cindy Salaiz, and Sandra (Saul) Garza, both of San Antonio. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
