Ignacia "Nachita" Salazar

IGNACIA "NACHITA" SALAZAR PHARR- Ignacia "Nachita" Salazar, 95, went with the Lord in heaven on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Paxvilla Hospice and Palliative Care in McAllen. Ignacia was born in Falfurrias, TX, and lived in Pharr most of her life. She was born to Timoteo and Juanita De La Paz and lived a wonderful full life. She enjoyed sewing, making unique jewelry, going to adult centers, listening to music, socializing and playing bingo. Ignacia was the center of her family’s life and will be missed dearly. Our sweet mother is preceded in death by her husband, Luis Salazar; a daughter, Maria Luisa (Thomas) Hardesty; a son, Oscar Salazar; and parents, Timoteo and Juanita De La Paz. Nachita is survived by eight children, Erlinda Salazar, Luz Divina Gutierrez, Varvarita (+Filiberto) Torres, Jose Luis (Celia) Salazar, Rosalinda Sandoval, Anna (John) Hofstetter, Homer Salazar, Alice (Mike) Thompson; four siblings, Secundo De La Paz, Olivia Garcia, Santos Chapa, and Nico De La Paz; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, August 27, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2015, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
