JEROME S. “JERRY” SALAZAR

EDINBURG — Jerome S. “Jerry” Salazar, 54, joined our Heavenly Father on
Monday, August 24, 2009, after a long illness.
Mr. Salazar was born in Edinburg and had lived there all of his
life.Jerry was the youngest son of the late Salome and Alicia Salazar. He
attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Edinburg High School and Pan
American University. He married Kathryn Flanagan on August 8, 1981. They
raised two children Kathryn “Katie” and Salome “Sal” Salazar. Jerry was an
avid sportsman, especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and gun collecting. He
taught a whole generation of sportsman.
Mr. Salazar is survived by his wife, Kathy Salazar; a daughter, Katie
Salazar; a son, Sal Salazar, all of Edinburg; two brothers, Jaime (Martha)
Salazar of Edinburg and Aldo (Vanita+) Salazar of McAllen; two sisters,
Cynthia (George) Monsevalles of Fort Worth, Texas and Melissa (Lee)
Espinoza of Edinburg; and his mother-in-law, Margie (Neal+) Flanagan of
Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, August
25, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral
service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Edinburg.Cremation will take place at Val Verde
Memorial Gardens in Donna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in
Edinburg.
