RAMON SALDANA
SAN JUAN - Ramon Saldana, 84, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Las Palmas Healthcare Center in McAllen.
Born in El Capote Ranch, Texas, Mr. Saldana was formerly of Pharr and lived in San Juan for the past 45 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Glafira Saldana; a son, Leonel Saldana; his parents, Geronimo and Francisca Saldana; two sisters, Francisca Patino and Guadalupe Cantu; and two brothers, Juan Saldana and Geronimo Saldana, Jr.
Mr. Saldana is survived by three sons, Javier (Maria G.) Saldana, Agustine Jaime (Elizabeth) Saldana, both of San Juan and Dr. Joel (Elizabeth) Saldana of Kennedy, Texas; three daughters, Rosalinda (Daniel) Sandoval of Houston, Texas, Maria Noelia (Donald) Davidson of Chicago, Illinois and Dr. Norma Saldana of San Antonio, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Antonia Martinez and Concepcion Ventura, both of San Juan.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, October 23, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo.
Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
