CONCEPCION "CONNIE" SALINAS SAN JUAN - God opened up the gates of heaven for Concepcion "Connie" Salinas on Sunday, July 14, 2013, to welcome her home at the age of 53. Her strong faith in God and prayers from many family and friends kept her strong during her short battle with brain cancer. Born on December 8, 1959, she is preceded in death by her father, Heriberto Salinas; and a brother Juan Valenzuela. She was survived by her husband, Juan Manuel Jimenez; three daughters, Esmeralda (Jeff) Koenig, Angelica (Robert) Giberson, Cynthia (Manuel Vasquez) Villanueva; six grandchildren, Abigail, Jared, Sofia Koenig, Theadora, Nathaniel Giberson, Adrian Vasquez; six sisters, Elida Lara, Elsa Salinas, Paula Trevino, Eloisa Marez, Gracie Salinas, Bonnie Rojas; three brothers, Heriberto Salinas, Cristobal Salinas, Samuel Salinas. Connie will be remembered for her smile that would light up the room and how souls rejoiced when she sang. Her legacy was always seeing the best in people, having a heart that forgave, a mind that forgot the bad, and a soul that never lost faith in God. She touched the lives of so many by giving a helping hand when needed and never expected anything in return. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Rosary, Thursday, July 18th, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place Friday, July 19th, at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna, Texas. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
