March 5, 1931 — February 27, 2014

NINFA G. SALINAS "Yo soy el camino, la verdad y la vida; nadie viene al Padre sino por Mi." Juan 14:6 EDINBURG - Ninfa G. Salinas, 82, went home to be with our Hevenly Father February 27, 2014, at her residence in Edinburg. Mrs. Salinas was born at her parents' Ranch of Agua Dulce, North of La Grulla, Texas. She lived in the Rio Grande Valley before moving to Corpus Christi, TX for 40 plus years, before moving to Edinburg since 2006. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, granddaughter, aunt, and friend to many people. Through her life she embodied her love for God in the daily activities. She was privileged to come to know Jesus Christ through the ministry of Pastor Ruben Wedel and accepted Christ into her life in February of 1949. Ninfa was baptized in Christ on April 16, 1954 at Guerra Ranch through Grulla Mennonite Brethren Church. She was a beautiful lady that had passion for gardening and sharing the plants that she grew with others. She always made sure there was something prepared to eat when her children came home from school or work, and especially when visitors came by, making sure they ate something or took something home to eat. Ninfa always had a desire to share the word of God with everyone she came across. She leaves with us a beautiful legacy on the stories of her life she shared with many, her kind heart, her beautiful smile, and her constant love for God and all of her family. She was cared for by her loving family and two beautiful providers, Rebecca Guzman and Maria Flores. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Guadalupe A. Salinas; her parents, Joaquin and Candelaria Gutierrez; and nine siblings, Romula Gil, Candelario Gutierrez, Clotilde Gutierrez, Eloiza Cantu, Manuela Sanchez, Moises Gutierrez, Maria Gonzalez, Joaquin Gutierrez, Jr. and Isabel Guerra. Left to cherish her legacy are her loving children, Jacob (Lori) Salinas, Rachel (Rene) Cantu, Ruth Salinas, and Aaron Joaquin Salinas; four adored grandchildren, Jacob Salinas, Jr., Carmen Eloisa Salinas, Sarah Renee Cantu and Noah Christopher Cantu; three sisters-in-law, Lupita De La Cruz Gutierrez, Lupita Ortiz Gutierrez, both of La Victoria, TX, and Trinidad S. Hoyt of Corpus Christ, TX; one brother-in-law, Abel (Marina) Salinas; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation was held held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service today, March 2, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will took place at 9 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, at Grulla Mennonite Brethren Church in La Grulla. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
