ROSA SALINAS EDINBURG – Rosa Salinas, 93, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Solara Hospital in Edinburg. Born in Mexico, Mrs. Salinas had lived in Edinburg most of her life. She was a strong, courageous, humble woman who was left widowed at a young age and was left to raise her children on her own. Her devotion to God was evident until the end. Mrs. Salinas was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed for her sense of humor and strong will. She is preceded in death by Francisco Amaya and Santiago Salinas; three daughters, Socorro, Blanca and Anita; her parents, Fernando and Eutemia De La Fuente; four brothers; and her godmother, Gertrudes De La Fuente. Rosa is survived by 11 children, Jose Amaya, Lauro (Tila) Amaya, both of Mexico, Janie (Leonel) Herrera, Jose Carlos (Yolanda) Salinas, Virginia Salinas, Maria O. Salinas, Humberto Salinas, all of Edinburg, Beatriz (Hector) Amador of Illinois, Fernando (Janie) Salinas of Alabama, Raul Christopher (Rose) Puls of Conroe, TX, Santiago (Sylvia) Arrieta of Robstown; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; three brothers; and Martha Alaniz who had been her caregiver for over ten years. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Pallbearers will be Joseph Ramirez, Joshua Arrieta, Jimmy Arrieta, Leonel “Tiki” Herrera, Jr., Jose Carlos Salinas and Junior Ibarra. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
