EDINBURG - On Thursday, June 15th, 2017, Erasmo Salinas, Sr, entered eternal rest in the kingdom of our Heavenly Father. He was surrounded lovingly by family who never left his bedside.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Nicolasa Torres-Salinas, father Higinio Salinas, son Erasmo Salinas, Jr; sisters Maria Ponce, Cecelia Quijas; brothers Margarito, Gavino, Baltazar and Jose Salinas.
Erasmo was born November 27th, 1929 in Edinburg, TX. He grew up with only a 3rd grade education, to become a strong, independent person with an incredible work ethic. His passion for his family and his community showed by the many lives he touched. He enjoyed being surrounded by his loved ones barbecuing and caring for his cattle.
At 20 years old, he married the love of his life, Elvira Perez. Together they had 6 children. Erasmo†(Sara) Salinas, Diana Salinas, Rosalinda Salinas, Mary Alice Salinas, Omar Salinas all of Edinburg and Esther(Mario) Salinas of Rio Grande City. He is also survived by his sisters Ma. Elisa(Martin) Garcia, Ninfa(Roberto) Martinez of Edinburg and Sixta Ibarra of San Antonio.
He cherished and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all his heart, his "Hijos de mi vida".
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Monday, June 19, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
