Salvador Flores of Pharr, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6th, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born in San Ygnacio, Texas on October 8th, 1942 to Manuel and Hermelinda Flores and was then raised in Zapata, Texas along with his eight siblings. 

Salvador grew up as the youngest of nine children and worked as a migrant alongside his family, where he developed a keen sense of humor, a strong work ethic, and a love for travel. These qualities allowed him the ability to develop the drive necessary to accomplish educational goals that would later provide an easier path for his own family.

Salvador was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a man of unwavering faith and kindness whose deep love for his family was central in his life. Salvador took pride in being a lifelong educator who received his bachelor’s and master's degrees from Texas A&I University - Kingsville. While at Kingsville, he met and married his wife of 55 years, Esperanza Molina Flores. He then dedicated 41 years of his life in the field of education as a teacher, bilingual director, and principal (Palmer & Garcia Elementary). The majority of this time was spent working for PSJA ISD.

Salvador Flores was passionate about helping those in need and serving his community. He was an active member of Valley Interfaith, which included lobbying at the capital (Austin, TX) for underprivileged families. He was also a member at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church, where he served as the choir director for over 30 years.

He is preceded in death by his son, Victor David Flores; parents, Manuel and Hermelinda Flores; brothers, Mauro, Mario, Lauro, Abelardo, and Jacinto; sisters, Irene Lopez and Nora Davila.

Salvador is survived by his wife, Esperanza Molina Flores; daughter, Laura Esther (David) Cantu; sister, Irma F. Salazar; grandchildren, David Jacob (Jessica) Cantu, Matthew David Flores, and Lauren Hope Cantu; great-grandson, Amari Flores; many nieces and nephews.

A rosary and a memorial mass will be held at St.Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr, Texas on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:15 a.m., mass will follow at 12 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of his favorite charities, St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
