ABDON SANCHEZ
SAN JUAN – Abdon Sanchez, 76, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. He was a life-long musician – music was his passion which he passed on his son and grandson. He battled cancer for 20 years and fought courageously till the end. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, and his zest for life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Adelaido and Guadalupe Sanchez; three siblings, Consuelo Garcia, Arimon Sanchez and Olga Salinas.
Mr. Sanchez is survived by his wife, Maria Sanchez of San Juan; a son, Daniel (Monica) Sanchez of Mission; three daughters, Claudia Sanchez, Karla (Robert) Chamberlain, both of McAllen, Lizett (Tommy) Howard of Pflugerville, Texas; nine grandchildren, Jackie, Derrick, Meagan, Michelle, Paulina, Pamela, Dylan, Evan, and Natalia Renee; two great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Arian; five siblings, Esperanza Almendarez of Pharr, Alejandro Sanchez of Hidalgo, Inez Bravo of San Antonio, Lazara Chavez of Edinburg, Julia Vera of McAllen.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, today, June 23, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Garden in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
