ISRAEL SANCHEZ
EDINBURG – Israel Sanchez, 61, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Mexico, Mr. Sanchez was formerly of McCook and had lived in Edinburg for the past ten years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg.
Israel worked as a farm supervisor for Skloss farms most of his life. He was a proud US Army veteran who cherished the memories of the time he served in Vietnam. He will remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Israel will be greatly missed by many.
He is preceded in death by a son, Eliud Sanchez; his parents, Florindo and Marta Sanchez.
Mr. Sanchez is survived by his wife, Elda G. Sanchez; three children, Ada S. (Victor) Valdez, Israel (Glenda) Sanchez Jr., and Eli (Shelly) Sanchez, all of Edinburg; nine grandchildren, Daniel J. Ochoa, Sabrina I. Ochoa, Elisha Sanchez, Nathan Sanchez, Eli I. Sanchez Jr., Christian Sanchez, Evalyn E. Sanchez, Makayla N. Sanchez and Matthew I. Sanchez; a brother, Leonel Sanchez of Alice, Texas; and a sister, Lydia Sanchez of McAllen.
A rosary was held Friday, May 29, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton, in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today, May 30, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Laurel Hills Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
