SAN JUAN - Jesus T. Sanchez Jr., husband and father, veteran, and teacher passed away Friday, May 21, 2021, at age 73.
Born on November 8, 1947, Jesus served in the Armed Forces and graduated from Pan American University in 1973. A History teacher for 29 years, Jesus taught by example. His love for music and good times were expressed through his DJ gigs. As a migrant fieldworker for over 40 years, Jesus walked endless miles to pass the lessons of hard honest work to his children. A selfless father and grandfather, Jesus treasured his grandchildren, taught all his children a dedication to education and good moral character, and cherished his wife of 49 years. Music in his heart, warmest humor in his soul, he was a fan of classic cars and a man of deep conviction. Beloved by his friends and family, Jesus will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his son, Luis Omar; his parents, Jesus and Maria Luisa Sanchez; and a sister, Terecita.
Jesus is survived by his wife, Alicia; five children, Jesus J. (Margaret) Sanchez, Teresita (Ricardo) Andrade, Roel (Rachel) Sanchez, Celina (Robert) Livingston, Amanda Sanchez; six grandchildren, Michael, Vivian, Emma, Leah, Mario, Carolina; and nine siblings, Maria, Rosa, Esteban, Juan, Joaquin, Belia, Maria Luisa, Gregoria, and San Juanita.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr with military honors.
