Maria R. Sanchez

Maria R. Sanchez, 89, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Maria loved with all her heart and was loved and respect by many. A devout Catholic, Maria was known for teaching her children to have faith and a love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In her younger years, provided support to her Parish by working at St. Vincent and contributing as a member of the Altar Society. Her strength, love and support to her family kept everyone safe and grounded throughout the years. Maria was a Mother and Friend to all. She will always be remembered for being a loving pillar and matriarch to her siblings, children, grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Maria was also a true lover of nature. She loved working with her plants and flowers in her garden and caring for all her farm animals. She will continue to be loved and missed dearly by her family but we are comforted knowing she is with her great love and late husband, Emilio Sanchez.
Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Jose Sanchez; son, David Joseph Sanchez; a grandson, David Joseph Sanchez Jr.; parents, Timoteo Rodriguez and Maria De Jesusa Morales; a sister, Manuela Rodriguez; and two brothers, Ramon Rodriguez and Timoteo Rodriguez.
Mrs. Sanchez is survived by her 6 children, Josepha De La Luz(Manuel†) Grajeda, Sylvia (Froylan) Carranza, Steven Paul (Baldomera) Sanchez, Maria Cristina (Roel) Munoz, Rebecca (Arturo Jr.) Sosa, Magdalene G. Barbee; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great- grandchildren; and a half-brother, Luciano Garcia.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
