SAN JUAN - Santiago Sanchez, 93, died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Mission Nursing Home.
Born in Burgos, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Mr. Sanchez had lived in San Juan most of his life.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Antonia Sanchez; and a son, Santiago Sanchez Jr.
Mr. Sanchez is survived by nine children, Guadalupe Vasquez and Eva Rivas, both of Washington, Ester Salinas, of Kent, Washington, Estela Fonseca, Domingo Sanchez, Jesus Martin Sanchez, Mary Frances Robles, all of Pharr, San Juanita Everett, of San Antonio, Texas, Joe Sanchez, of San Juan; 36 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ester Cano, of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm prayer service Monday, May 25, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Magic Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
